The primary responsibility of the territorial community is to negotiate a collective agreement on behalf of our members and to manage all disputes arising from the management of the collective agreement between the members and the hospital. We have a large team of labour relations specialists through OPSEU headquarters and many volunteers from different professional professions who work with members to resolve issues and disputes. I appreciate being part of a union because it gives me the opportunity to argue for the rights of people who may be blocked by an employer that does not prioritize workers` rights. I want to have a collaborative approach with our management team to improve the working conditions of our members and provide them with the appropriate training, equipment and compensation to succeed in health safety. We are one of the largest residents of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and we have an increasing number of members. I attended the medical laboratory program at St. Lawrence College (Kingston Campus) in 2009. After my internship and studies, I moved to Ottawa when I was hired at TOHG, where I worked as a phlebotomist. Several years after working at TOHG, I won a competition and got a position at S.R.P.`s TOHC. Since then, I have worked mainly at toHC, where I work at the SRP and where I sometimes do phleotomy in an outpatient setting.
